Sri Lanka vs Malaysia ICC Women’s U19 T20 WC: Sri Lanka started their ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup campaign with a 139-run win against Malaysia. Chamudi Praboda and Dahami Sanethma were the standout players in the match.

After setting a strong total, Sri Lanka dominated from the beginning. Rashmika Sewwandi took a wicket in the first over, getting Malaysia’s opener Irdina Beh out. This early breakthrough gave Sri Lanka the upper hand.

Chamudi Praboda then took two quick wickets in the second over, removing Nazatul Hidayah Husna and Nur Izzatul Syafiqa. With these early wickets, Sri Lanka maintained the game and secured a comfortable victory.

Malaysia’s team was worried after dropping some rapid wickets. Then, Manudi Nanayakkara Made something worse for them by taking two interesting wickets in one over – Our Aliya and their captain, Our Daniya Syuhada. By This time, half of the Malaysian players were already out, and they had just 14 runs on the scoreboard. Aseni Thalagune threw the ball and hit the stumps perfectly running out Nuriman Hidayah. This ended Nuriman’s time in the game.

Limansa Thilakaratne took two wickets in Continuous overs, getting rid of Suabika Manivannan and Our Ain. Then, Praboda came back and took her third wicket, Ending with superb figures of 3 wickets for just 5 runs. The final wicket was a run-out, and the hosts were all out for only 23 runs.

Ans: Dahami Sanethma scored a half-century, helping Sri Lanka score 55 runs from 52 balls and Dahani hit six boundaries at the Bayeumas Oval. Sri Lanka finished their innings with a total of 162/6. Opener Sanjana Kavindi (30 off 13 balls) and Hiruni Kumari (28 off 21 balls) in the middle order were also key contributors for the Sri Lankans.

 

Ans: Opener Sanjana Kavindi scored 30 runs from 13 balls, while Hiruni Kumari added 28 runs from 21 balls in the middle order, both making important contributions for Sri Lanka. Hosts Malaysia did pull the run rate back thanks to wickets in the middle overs. The pick of the bowlers was Siti Nazwah, who removed Hiruni and Rashkima Sewwandi in the same over to carve an opening for the hosts. But thanks to some late fireworks from Sanethma and Shashini Gimhani propelled Sri Lanka past the 150. Malaysia managed to slow down the scoring by taking wickets in the middle overs. Siti Nazwah was the best bowler who took the wickets of Hiruni and Rashkima Sewwandi in the same over to give the hosts a chance. However, late big hits from Sanethma and Shashini Gimhani helped Sri Lanka cross 150 runs.

Malaysia won the toss and chose to bowl in the capital. There were emotional moments when Marsya took the first wicket for Malaysia, catching Kavindi off her own bowling in the fourth over.

Later in the day, defending champions India will play against the West Indies at the same venue.
