Nepal Premier League (NPL) – 2024

Introduction

Cricket is one of the most popular sports in the world. It is also booming in Nepal. The Nepal Premier League (NPL), which was held for the first time in Nepal in 2024, successfully introduced Nepal and the Nepali cricket team to the world. Eight teams from Nepal have participated in the League, which is played by the Nepal Cricket Association.

The first season of the League was held from November 30 to December 21, 2024. when I saw it, I thought, “Wow, Nepali cricket has started a new era. NPL: Cricket Festival

NPL is a big celebration, like playing sweet and sweet games with friends during a great festive. Today, you will tell me about this amazing game!

NPL started in 2024. It ran from November 30 to December 21. It was the first time the game was played in Nepal, and everyone loved it. Eight teams from Nepal played this game, such as Janakpur Bolts, Biratnagar Kings, Chitwan Rhinos, and Pokhara Avengers. Each team had strong players, and they threw the ball far and wide. The game was played at the former Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground. Many cricket fans came there, about 135,000 people! They laughed, cheered, and cheered for their favorite team and players. The game was also watched on TV—Star Sports showed it, and four million cricket lovers watched the final on YouTube. Look at this, cricket is now known all over the world!

In these teams, famous Nepali players like Sandeep Lamichhane, Dipendra Singh Airee, and Rohit Paudel played in the matches. Every team had to include four international players too. Stars like Shikhar Dhawan from India, Martin Guptill from New Zealand, and James Neesham also joined the NPL. We feel proud because our Nepali players got to play alongside these international stars.

The first season of Nepal Premier League 2024 which was held for the first time in Nepal was a special event for Nepal and Nepali cricket which was started on November 30 with a match between Janaknagar Kings and Pur Bolts. Likewise, the last match was on December 21 between Janakpur Bolts and Sudurpaschim Royals, where Janakpur won by 5 wickets.

Special Moments in the Nepal Premier League (NPL)

• Andries Gous Hits a Big Six: The Pokhara Avengers’ star, Andries Gous, smashed a huge six and scored the first 100 runs (century) in NPL history. This amazing moment happened when his team chased a target.
• Sohail Tanvir’s First Five Wickets for Chitwan Rhinos: Sohail Tanvir, a talented bowler, took Chitwan Rhinos’ first-ever 5-wicket haul in the NPL.
• Huge Fan Support: Almost 1.35 million fans (1,350,000) came to watch the matches at the Tribhuvan University (TU) Cricket Ground. Even more people—around 40 million—watched the games on YouTube.

Star Sports showed NPL matches on TV, so now the world knows about Nepal’s cricket. The big sponsors, like Siddhartha Bank and tourism, help Nepal’s economy to grow.

Nepal Premier League (NPL) has brought new hope to Nepali cricket. It had exciting matches, star players, and amazing fans. Janakpur Bolts won the first season, but the real winner is Nepali cricket.

Conclusion

NPL helps not just players but also Nepal. It gives players both money and respect. Some of the top players earn up to 15 lakh rupees. This is amazing because cricket is turning into a profession in Nepal.
